Birds and Blooms: Plant Walk at Snow Canyon State Park

  • Snow Canyon State Park 1002 Snow Canyon Drive Ivins, UT, 84738 United States (map)

Location: West Canyon Road in Snow Canyon

Meeting Place: Turn left at the sign for the Sand Dunes/West Canyon Parking Lot, a mile north of the south Park Entrance Station. Meet at the picnic area. Bring your Park Pass or pay a daily admission fee per vehicle ($10 for Utah Residents or $5 for Senior Utah Residents).

About: Get introduced to the plants that are native to this region, the Mojave Desert. These plants provide birds with shelter, protection and food. We will learn over twenty “Core Plants” and will identify any wildflowers that we discover. This is a mostly level gravel road with a gradual elevation gain in spots. Public restrooms are available at the starting and ending points. We will walk about two miles round trip at a moderate pace.
