Belinda had four
black-chinned
hummingbird nests at
her home in LaVerkin, Utah.
They weren't in just your usual
places, but in very precarious
spots. Take a look:

Two babies in this
same spot
in
May 2000 and May 2001.
A total of four babies hatched
and raised here.

Two babies in 1999
and, in 2001, two babies.
This pictures shows the final
fledgling
and it left
about an hour after the picture
was taken in 1999.
Belinda found the 2001 nest
when the little ones were
about three-days old. She
said they grew very fast.

Nest found under
soffit at
back
patio in June 1998, May 1999,
May 2000, August 2000, and May
2001 for a total of ten,
sweet babies. The mother
had trouble getting under the
soffit, but it was great protection
from predators.

Nests
built May 1998, May
1999,
August 1999, May 2000, August 2000,
and May 2001. Eleven babies
had been hatched and raised in this nest.
This photo was taken in 1999 the
day before the first baby fledged and the
next photo shows only one left
and it fledged later that same day.

Thanks again, Belinda!
